Katie Taylor got her first opportunity to come face to face with reigning WBA World Lightweight champion Anahi Sanchez at their pre fight press conference in Cardiff earlier today.

Taylor will challenge the 2 weight World Champion at Principality Stadium on Saturday night but the Argentinian has certainly travelled with plenty of confidence and has promised to return home on Sunday with her title intact. “Everyone thinks I came to leave the belt in Cardiff but everyone is wrong,” said Sanchez. “It will be a dark and rainy night for Katie.”

Her veteran promoter Sampson Lewkowicz is also predicting a South American victory believing that Sanchez greater experience in the pro ranks will prove the key. “Katie is not prepared for what is coming on Saturday” said Lewkowicz. “The amateurs are very different to the pros.”

However after an 11 week training camp in the US Katie Taylor said that she’s confident of adding a first professional title to her 5 World Amateur Championships. “I’m ready for whatever comes my way and ready for a tough fight”, said Taylor. “These are the kind of challenges I relish. I’ve been sparring plenty rounds with top seasoned pros in the US. It’s the biggest night of my career without a doubt.”

The two fighters will weigh in at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff at 1pm tomorrow ahead of Saturday’s fight at Principality Stadium on a massive night of boxing headlined by Anthony Josuha’s World heavyweight title defence against Carlos Takam. The event is live on Sky Sports Box Office.
