Katie Taylor emerged victorious and retained her Undisputed World Super Lightweight titles in a gripping rematch against Amanda Serrano in front of over 70,000 in attendance at the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas,
Taylor secured a unanimous decision after ten hard-fought rounds in with all three judges scoring the fight in the champions favour by identical scores 0f 95-94.
The bout mirrored their 2022 classic from Madison Square Garden when they met for the first time. On this occasion it was Taylor’s adaptability and ring intelligence, which ultimately swayed the judges.
The fight became the most-viewed women’s sporting event ever, with Netflix reporting a global audience of 74 million. As discussions about a trilogy gain momentum, Taylor’s win is yet another defining chapter in her illustrious and remarkable career.
In the post-fight press conference, Taylor expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and reflected on the magnitude of the event. She stated, “Amanda Serrano is an incredible champion, and I knew I had to bring my very best. I’m honoured to be part of such a historic moment. It was a tough, physical fight, but I fought clean and fair. It was an absolute war in there, and I’m proud of what we both delivered for the fans.”
Taylor had short shrift for the allegations from Serrano’s camp that she is a “dirty fighter” and refuted those claims. “I’m in there fighting like she is,” said Taylor. “It’s a rough sport and sometimes you get head clashes so you have to fight through those things. This is the fight game. I didn’t know what they were saying but I knew they were complaining about the decision. But I really don’t care. I’m standing here as a victor again, I fought her twice, I beat her twice, all the judges were in agreement so I really couldn’t care less what is being said about the fight. I’m sat here again, 2-0 against Serrano.”
